Boglioli always chooses amazing locations to present their collections. Last season, they presented in the historical Biblioteca Braidense and this season they chose a refurbished warehouse on the outskirts of Milan. Upon entering the venue you see Mario Bogiloli serving eggs and Luciano Barbera making cocktails for guests. The food was impeccable; the salmon tartar, salami and pate were all absolutely delicious. The one food item that stood out the most was a mozzarella made right on the premisses. The cheesemaker even made a mozzarella elephant.
This season’s collection was one of my favorites. The fabrics were all lightwieght and perfect for the summer. The standard cotton jackets were mixed in with bold patterns and colors. Some of my favorites included the blue windowpane double breasted jacket, the navy reversible nylon blazer and the red double breasted hopsack jacket. If you are not familiar with Boglioli, they make all of their pieces unstructured; there is no canvasing or shoulder pads. This creates a very relaxed silhouette and is great for the summer. They used this silhouette to create a piece which I have never seen before, a midnight blue notched lapel dinner jacket. I am really looking forward seeing this collection in stores next year.
